Class Schedule: Call 503-681-WINE to reserve your seat.  Seating is limited so don't wait.  The idea is to keep the classes small so everyone gets individual attention.

                    Friday, April 11th

                    Thursday, April 17th

                    Saturday, April 19th

Our Basic Course  -  We meet at 10:00 am.  You are given your booklet containing all of the educational material that you are going to cover over the day.  We take off to our first winery where we sample some fine wines.  We learn to look at the color, why we swirl, what we smell and then taste.  Learn how to find 22 descriptors for the wine.  We learn about Oregon's wine history, why Oregon is so ideally suited for producing world class Pinot Noir.
What makes wine, wine. What choices are available for the wine maker and how do they make those decisions.  We break it down simply and easily.

Most people will tell you that the wine starts in the vineyard.  We take you out, show you the various trellising techniques, discuss clone selections, and how the vineyard works.  You will learn about Oregon's 16 AVA's.  What's an AVA?  Why do they plant all the vineyards on hills?

Then we go into the winery and see where it all happens.  We learn the various pieces of equipment and what the purpose is of each.  All of this is learned in a local working winery.  Many times with the wine maker to answer questions.  Taste wines from the barrel.  Experience the growth of the wine from it's infancy to maturity.  Understand what it means to taste wines from the barrel and the steps involved.

    Pricing:   $160/per person.

Class sizes are limited to 6 - 10 people.  Pick up is at 10:00 am and returning by 6:00 pm.

Lunch and gratuity are not included in the cost.

    Wine Ed 201 - Intermediate

Same as the first class but we start where we left off on the first course.  We take everyone to the next level.  We go into specifically why you get the flavor profiles that you are getting in your wine.  What the wine maker does to create the different tastes both in the winery and in the vineyard are discussed.  Advanced food and wine pairings, more in depth knowledge about wine making techniques and more

    Wine Ed 301 - Advanced

You will take all of the information you have learned in the previous classes, learn to blend wine, the different characteristics of oak, and the tricks a wine maker uses to make wine.  This is a very advanced class with detailed information carried forward from the previous two classes.  In depth study of the French and Italian wine labels, advanced food and wine pairings, advanced sensory evaluations, advanced vineyard techniques, biodynamic farming, clones, rootstocks and soil types of our local AVA's and much more.
